Investment Banking Infrastructure Strategy - New York, NY or Menlo Park, CA

Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division (IBD) delivers strategic and financial expertise to corporations, institutions, and government clients. The Infrastructure Strategy team within IBD is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance systems that drive business operations globally. This dynamic, fast-paced role offers the opportunity to blend technical, quantitative, and business expertise to develop solutions that enhance productivity, generate revenue, and reduce risk across IBD.

As an Infrastructure Strategist, you will work closely with the IT team, bankers, and senior stakeholders to develop tools, systems, and automation solutions that optimize workflows. You will focus on creating scalable infrastructure systems to support data analytics, reporting, and financial solutions while applying innovative technologies such as AI and data science.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain robust infrastructure systems to support IBD workflows, including data pipelines, analytical tools, and reporting dashboards.
Develop and optimize APIs and database architectures to streamline data access across teams.
Implement automation solutions to reduce manual processes in data preparation, reporting, and analytics.
Partner with IT and business teams to design infrastructure solutions tailored to business needs.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, ensuring seamless service delivery.
Develop libraries, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance to improve system efficiency.
Own the lifecycle of metrics development from data sourcing to visualization.
Research and apply emerging technologies to enhance IBD infrastructure.
Collaborate with IBD stakeholders to understand business needs and design effective solutions.
Uphold a strong ethical standard and attention to detail in all tasks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics) with significant software development experience.
1-6 years of work experience (7+ years for VP).
Proficiency in programming languages (Java, Python, and/or C++).
Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data-visualization platforms (e.g., PowerBI).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, able to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to collaborate across teams and understand business needs to deliver effective technology solutions.
Knowledge of financial workflows (capital markets, M&A, corporate finance) is a plus.
Previous experience in investment banking, management consulting, or a similar analytical role is advantageous.

Vice President Additional Responsibilities:

Present complex ideas and solutions to senior stakeholders, clearly explaining alternative options and associated costs.
Act as a leader and mentor within the team, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective risk management.
Ensure adherence to process controls and escalation protocols to mitigate risks.

Compensation:

Base salary for Associate roles: $85,000 - $140,000 per year.
Base salary for Vice President roles: $145,000 - $250,000 per year.
Total compensation may include commissions, bonuses, and other incentives.
