U.S. Banks Operational Risk Associate – Dedicated Business Risk Coverage for Shared Services

Role Overview:
The U.S. Bank Subsidiaries seek an Associate to join the First Line Business Risk team, providing risk oversight for the U.S. Banks Shared Services/Affiliates (Operations, Technology, Finance, Treasury, HR, COO Office, etc.) that support the U.S. Banks Business Units. This team is a component of the Business Risk Management organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Management: Aid in the development and implementation of a Dedicated Business Risk Coverage team for the Banks' shared services, establishing a risk management coverage model. Collaborate with key stakeholders within the shared services embedded risk teams to ensure continuous and consistent monitoring and escalation of various risk frameworks, including Issues/Action Plans, Operational Risk Incidents, Metrics, Reporting, and Risk Assessments.
Program Development: Manage the development, implementation, and execution of the First Line of Defense Business Risk program supporting the U.S. Banks Shared Services.
Project Support: Support the Bank's execution of key projects and initiatives, ensuring the Business Risk Program includes elements to identify, measure, monitor, control, and report on current and emerging risks and the mitigating control environment in accordance with regulatory requirements and guidelines.
Risk Framework Implementation: Aid in the implementation of sound risk management practices in support of the Banks' Operational Risk frameworks, including Risk and Control Assessments (RCSA), Operational Risk Incident Management, and Issues and Actions Management.
Collaboration: Collaborate with stakeholders across all three lines of defense to confirm comprehensive and consistent practices are followed, allowing for a successful oversight program that proactively manages and assesses operational risk.
Committee Participation: Attend and participate in relevant management meetings and committees.
Procedure Development: Aid in the implementation of written procedures and desktop instructions for areas of responsibility to ensure consistency and compliance with regulatory and Bank expectations.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, preferably in risk management, compliance, finance, operations, or audit.
Skills: Attention to detail; strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills; risk management experience including governance, reporting, policy procedure review, and audit/regulatory support.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, and the ability to influence and interact with senior members of the Bank.
Technical Proficiency: Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Attributes: Strong sense of ownership and accountability; willingness to be adaptable and possess an entrepreneurial spirit; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team, under tight deadlines.

Compensation:
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $57,000 and $110,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
