Role Overview:
The Business Control Office (BCO) is a front-office function reporting to the Global Divisional Control Officer (DCO). The primary objective is to support front-office product, coverage, and sales desks by creating a robust control framework as part of the first line of defense. The BCO identifies non-financial risks—such as regulatory, conduct, and systemic risks—defines mitigation processes, and develops, implements, and monitors Level 1 controls. This role involves close collaboration with various departments within the Corporate Bank and Investment Bank, as well as functions forming the second line of defense.
Key Responsibilities:
- Risk Identification: Identify non-financial risks (regulatory, conduct, and systemic) for the front office and define control requirements.
- Control Development: Develop, implement, execute, and monitor Level 1 controls.
- Risk Assessment: Support conducting risk assessments to evaluate potential vulnerabilities.
- Reporting: Create metrics and reports to ensure appropriate monitoring, management, and transparency of non-financial risks.
- Coordination: Coordinate relevant issues within the Chief Operating Office, DCO, second line of defense, and third line of defense.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Relevant experience in a front-office role in Investment Banking or Corporate Banking, or in Compliance, Control, Legal, Middle Office, or Audit functions.
- Product Knowledge: Experience with Fixed Income and currencies (e.g., Foreign Exchange, Rates, and/or Credit) products.
- Project Management: Demonstrated project management experience.
- Education: Degree level or equivalent qualification/work experience in compliance, economics, finance, and/or legal background.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to synthesize technical content for senior management, and strong influencing, negotiation, and analytical abilities.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position in New York City is $125,000 to $185,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skill set, experience, education, work location, and other qualifications. This range does not include incentive compensation or other types of remuneration.
