Business Development Officer – Commercial Banking

Role Overview:
The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for sourcing and developing new commercial banking business within an assigned sales territory. This role focuses on companies with annual revenues ranging from $40 million to $500 million. The BDO will analyze prospects' needs, provide information about bank products and services, and collaborate with Relationship Managers and Team Leaders to close deals. Additionally, the BDO will document all sales activities and key market data in the appropriate system of record.

Key Responsibilities:

Prospect Development: Engage in activities targeting the commercial banking business segment to achieve specific acquisition goals assigned by management.
Client Engagement: Analyze the needs of prospects and provide information about bank products and services that can enhance their financial position.
Sales Strategy Execution: Work with management to plan business development opportunities and strategies, taking an active role in leading the execution of sales strategies.
Collaboration: Interact with bank colleagues to discuss prospects/referrals and formulate and lead sales strategies.
Documentation: Record all sales activities and key prospect information generated through daily outbound sales interactions in the designated system of record (Salesforce).

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in commercial banking and at least 3 years in sales and marketing.
Skills: Strong understanding of banking products and services applicable to the target client segment; knowledge of commercial credit policies and procedures; excellent credit analysis and accounting skills; proficiency with MS Office software and database applications; strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Abilities: Ability to work independently and in teams; make sound business decisions; exercise appropriate levels of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.

Compensation:
The starting base salary for this position ranges from $122,535 to $208,715 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for bonuses and/or commissions.
