Compliance Officer – Financial Crime

We are a leading financial institution committed to maintaining the highest standards of compliance and integrity. Our Financial Crime team plays a crucial role in mitigating risks related to money laundering, fraud, and other financial crimes. We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join our London office and contribute to safeguarding the organization against financial crime risks while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Role Overview
As a Compliance Officer specializing in Financial Crime, you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the organization’s financial crime framework. This is a pivotal role requiring expertise in anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions compliance, and fraud prevention. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external regulators to ensure a robust compliance culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures to mitigate financial crime risks, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and international standards.
Conduct risk assessments and due diligence processes on clients, transactions, and business activities.
Monitor and investigate suspicious activities, escalating cases as necessary to regulatory authorities.
Provide expert advice and training to internal teams on financial crime prevention and compliance best practices.
Stay updated on regulatory developments and industry trends, assessing their impact on the organization.
Prepare and deliver reports to senior management and regulators on financial crime compliance matters.
Support internal audits and regulatory reviews, ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.

Requirements:

Proven experience in financial crime compliance within the financial services industry.
In-depth knowledge of AML, sanctions compliance, and fraud prevention frameworks.
Familiarity with UK regulatory requirements and global financial crime standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Professional certifications such as ICA, ACAMS, or equivalent are highly desirable.
A proactive and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
