Credit & Underwriting Manager – Property Development Finance

We are seeking an experienced Credit & Underwriting Manager to join our London-based team and play a key role in evaluating and managing property development finance transactions.

Role Overview
As a Credit & Underwriting Manager, you will oversee the assessment and approval of property development finance applications, ensuring they meet the company’s credit policies and risk appetite. This is a critical role requiring strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and the ability to make sound credit decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess and underwrite property development finance applications, analyzing financial statements, development appraisals, and creditworthiness.
Conduct detailed due diligence, including risk assessments and market analysis, to support lending decisions.
Prepare credit proposals and present recommendations to credit committees for approval.
Monitor and manage the performance of the property development finance portfolio, identifying and mitigating risks.
Collaborate with internal teams, including business development and legal, to ensure seamless transaction execution.
Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and economic conditions affecting property development finance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and external stakeholders to facilitate successful lending outcomes.

Requirements:

Proven experience in credit and underwriting within property development finance or a related sector.
Strong understanding of property development, real estate markets, and associated risks.
Excellent analytical skills, with expertise in financial modeling, risk assessment, and credit evaluation.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
Ability to manage multiple transactions effectively, meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of UK regulatory requirements and lending practices.
Degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field; professional qualifications (e.g., CFA) are advantageous.
