Vice President – Compliance Engineering: Sanctions Lead

We are looking for a strategic and highly experienced Compliance Engineering Lead to join our Sanctions team. As a Vice President, you will oversee and manage the compliance technology infrastructure related to sanctions compliance, ensuring our firm adheres to all relevant regulations and effectively mitigates risk. This role is pivotal in developing and enhancing the firm’s sanctions compliance capabilities, working closely with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.

About the Role:
As the Sanctions Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of compliance engineers and collaborating with various departments to develop, implement, and maintain effective sanctions screening and monitoring solutions. You will also provide strategic direction on the integration of compliance technology and support the ongoing improvement of sanctions compliance processes, ensuring that we meet regulatory requirements while minimizing exposure to risks.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of sanctions screening and compliance technologies
Oversee a team of engineers, ensuring alignment of technology solutions with sanctions compliance objectives
Collaborate with compliance officers, legal teams, and external regulators to ensure adherence to global sanctions regulations and reporting requirements
Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices related to sanctions compliance across the firm
Support the testing, tuning, and optimization of sanctions screening systems to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency
Drive cross-functional projects aimed at improving the overall sanctions compliance program, including technology upgrades and regulatory reporting
Work with senior management to develop and deliver strategic insights on sanctions compliance technology trends and risks
Manage relationships with third-party vendors and technology providers to ensure compliance tools are up-to-date and aligned with industry standards
Provide training and guidance to internal teams on the use of compliance tools and regulations
Serve as the primary point of contact for any issues related to sanctions technology, resolving technical and regulatory challenges efficiently

What We’re Looking For:

A minimum of 8 years of experience in compliance engineering, sanctions compliance, or a related area, with a focus on regulatory technology
Strong knowledge of sanctions regulations (OFAC, UN, EU, etc.) and the compliance landscape across different regions
Experience managing and leading a team of compliance engineers or technical professionals
Expertise in designing and implementing technology solutions for sanctions screening and monitoring
Strong technical background with experience in compliance tools, databases, and automation systems
Proven ability to collaborate across teams, including compliance, legal, and technology departments
In-depth understanding of risk management, data privacy, and cybersecurity as it relates to sanctions compliance
Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a high-pressure environment
